FOOD CONTACT MATERIALS
SASO published the Technical Regulation (TR) for Food Contact Material in the Official Gazette on January 15, 2020. Food contact material refers to a type of material that will be in direct contact with the food or normal and foreseeable contact with food, but does not constitute food by itself.
The Regulation applies to:
- The appliances and products intended for direct contact or expected to contact food in normal conditions for food preparation, catering, or preservation in the kitchen.
Basic requirements for food contact product certification:
- Demonstrate good manufacturing practices.
- Product material shall not contaminate food.
- Products shall be made of food safe material.
- Paint and ink coating Must be food safe (if touching food) and conform to standards.
- Print location should be kept away from side and surface that touches the food.
